Guru Lakhang / Lopon Devi, Phyang Village, Ladakh.

This prayer hall, situated in the northeast of Phyang, is owned by the Gasha family. Dating back to the 14th/15th century A.D., the Lakhang features numerous beautiful paintings, including a depiction of Garuda. At the base of this painting is a row of what appears to be donors who contributed to the construction of the Lakhang (Pic 2 to 4). The names are listed as follows:

  2. Ang (or perhaps Ar) Od ma
  3. Cho Khri Gtsug lde (identified as King, Lachen Khri Gtsug lde)
  4. Cho Ar Bum lde
  5. Cho Ar Rgyal lde
  6. Cho Ar Btsan (identified as the most important figure by Erberto Lo Bue)
  7. Ama Cho Cho Mutup
  8. Cho Cho See Jon
  9. Tundup Gyagar
  10. Cho Cho Sandup Gyalmo
  11. Cho Cho Achun Chang
  12. Cho Cho Ubad
  13. Cho Cho Spalzin Chomo
